Designing for Large Format: What Changes at Scale
Resolution, viewing distance and color behave differently when your canvas is ten feet wide.

The most common misconception is that large format needs 300 DPI. At normal viewing distance, a wall mural at 100 DPI is indistinguishable — and far more manageable as a file.
Design at a scale ratio (1:10 is common) and keep everything vector where possible. Type especially.
Remember the substrate. The same file printed on matte fabric, gloss vinyl and brushed aluminum produces three different color results. Ask for material proofs on anything critical.
Leave bleed and safety margins generous. Stretch frames, grommets and mounting hardware all eat into your artwork.
